I have just come across this old quote again and when you look at the expenses of the EU (the £250,000 shower that wasn't even used), our own MP's, bankers, CEO's of bankrupt companies and so on you realise that 1500 years later it is still totally relevant:

"We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to

How true! How do we halt the constant slide in ethical standards it only ever seems to be downwards?
